I posted this in the lawn mower section because I know these yellow Enduro Cub Cadets are just a lawn mower. Anyway, my friend called and asked me if I would look at his 2 yr old XT1. The throttle lever does absolutely nothing. Somehow the cable is no longer attached to the lever. Of course it's buried under the plastic dash and the gas tank.
Has anyone had these apart before? I don't want to start breaking plastic parts trying to get to the throttle control. Any tricks or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Start with a parts break down.  Should show you how things are put together.

Just a guess but the mower being 2 years old should still be under warranty since they have a 3 year one.

It probably is, but I don't think he wants to be without it too long. He had a bad experience with a Toro he bought from from HD . It had oil leaking after the first week. He brought it back, they kept it for over a month and said no leak was found. It had a Kohler Courage engine. I got it and found the engine was cracked. I tore it down, had the block welded, and put it back together. No leaks. So if its something as simple as a throttle cable I told him I would take care of it.

Take it back to the store, and bust out the walk behind.

Hard to believe a cable went bad, or disconnected after 2 yrs of service?? I'd be interested in the cause of the failure if anything.

The cable was stuck inside the metal sheathing right before it exits to the carbon. Some of outer plastic was melted away and it appears a bit of oil was leaking slightly from the ohv cover onto it.
Very strange. But, all is good now. The other end of the cable became disconnected from trying to force it to move. Pulled the steering wheel, 6 bolts, pulled the dash up and popped out the throttle control.
