Looks like all the teeth are gone on the input shaft. Assuming I am correct, it's the same part (1713442) as the input shaft on the 3 speed transmission as well. I am in the process of replacing the one in my 750 currently. I was fortunate enough to find a NOS one from one of our vendors for my project.

I used 29 Chev's Return to Service thread as a guide in doing mine.

I took some pictures of mine in this post of my Bolens Husky 750 - Transmission thread.

I suspect if you ask our vendors and make a post in the wanted section you should be able to find one. I'd offer my old one, but it's only nominally better than the one you have.

29 chev showed me the same thing.
Very helpfull.

2nd and 3rd do have Wear.
so a bolens 750 input shaft 3 Speed.would suit as a replacement?

A 750 would be hard to find as they were made only one year. The input shaft (Bolens part # 1713442) in the 3 speed found on many of the older Bolens Husky tractors, such as a 600, 650, 750, 800, 900, etc) would work in the 6 speed ones too as it's the same part (1713442)

Ollie,
Have this and possibly another two to choose from but they have not had the covers removed yet so condition is unknown at the moment. Had the same issue on my current G14 but re-built the gear like Chev 29 did. So far so good but the box is noisy with the gears meshing. I've overfilled the box with oil as the level the gear train runs is to me too low and hence is significantly quieter. I also have a magnet glued to the drain plug and change the oil every two hours of running. The debris I weigh each time which shows the box after the repair is bedding in.
The one I have is not ideal but it works. Welcome to it if you want it.
