Hey guys,

I broke the belt on my 42 inch deck for my GT16 and I have no clue how to route the new belt. Anybody have a walk through they can show me? I got the 2 belt covers off but I am going to have to get around the main pulley somehow and I'm not sure what the proper way is.

I was looking at that on my 48". It seems the gearbox needs to be taken off since it's in the center of the belt. A project for next week.

basically like this diagram you have to remove the center blade and lift the gear box platform up to loop the belt around the center pulley/spindle

buy a good belt as this is not a fun deal I bought a belt off amazon last year and I get to do this again this year

Thanks for the diagram. I figured I had to lift the pulley, just wasn't sure how to do it. Drop the blade and then the while platform the gearbox sits on lifts up?

Just the gearbox, it is bolted to the main center plate. Then slide the belt thru.

What length of belt for the 42" deck. Everywhere I looked said 89" but that is far too long.
