Gents,

I have some questions on the Ht20D, and am not finding info I was looking for, so finally decided to tap into the vast knowledge here.

Did the HT20D come with any other diesel engine other than the one made by Ducati?

Does anyone have any specs on the Ducati engine: HP, displacement, direct or indirect injection, bore and stroke, weight, length and model number?

Did they use glow plugs, intake heaters, or?

What seems to be the short comings of the Ducati engine (besides the availability or parts!)?

Did the Eaton rear end have a two speed range like the HT23?

What is the temperature below where the Ducati engine wants to start?

Has anyone come up with a good replacement engine for the Ducati size wise and near HP?

Thanks,

Doug

You can download the parts manual and the Workshop Manual here:

I've gotten mine started at a little under 32 Deg.

It's 'rated' at 19.9 HP at 3000 RPM.  That's not what it actually produces.  That rating was a workaround to get past the Nebraska Tractor test.

The actual output is 22 HP.

They did not use glow plugs, but there was an heater available that was installed in the air shroud around the heads to help with cold starting. Not all HT20D's were so outfitted. I have one. It is a calrod unit similar to what you see on an electric stove burner. Basically a fat metal rod that heats up by resistance.

Thanks for the link.  I had not visited that part of the site, and didn't know what was there.   Got lost looking at all the different manuals!

Gents,

Thanks for the responses, the info helped clear up a bunch of questions I had about this particular model.
