I did cote the under side of one of my 54" decks I restored with it and it seem to work fine.

i wouldnt do it... i would put a few coats of paint an go that way the grass will flow through the deck an not build up as much

That stuff is as tough as nails. I used to use it for painting fiberglass fuselages on R/C sailplanes back when I was flying them. They didn't have landing gear, so they just slid on the ground when you landed. With epoxy paint we didn't get it all scratched up, and even when landed on a hard surface there was very little marring of the paint.
It also gave a very smooth slick finish, which would help in keeping grass build up to a minimum.
