This 540 PTO came in the mail some weeks back. I been looking for one of these for a long time now and I finally got one.  Hope I can find the 2000 PTO down the road.

Here I thought I was going to read you found it in the shed, forgotten. Doesn't look to have a lot of wear to it.

I got it from another Bolens collector from what he found out from the guy he got it from it never was used. The shafts got rusty from sitting around and shows no sign of wear on ether from what I see.

Nice treasure! Such a rare find. OldBuzzard posted a link a few weeks ago to a 2000rpm PTO on eBay. Of course they wanted a pretty penny for it.

What attachments would use a 2000 rpm pto and a 3 point hitch? Only thing I can think of is a Bolens tiller modified for 3 point hitch use.

Mower.  Either brush cut or finish.

The 2000's are a little harder to find, most of the time there pretty pricey

Very interesting that you got the Model 18906 PTO Kit for the early Large Frames. That is the one designed to be either 540 or 1000 rpm output, depending on which gears are installed internally. I have the Model 18094 PTO Kit for the later Large Frames, which looks the same on the outside, but was only 540 rpm output. Nice catch, Jerome.

The parts manuals for the 18906 and 18094 as well as the installation manual for the 18095 all show both the 540 and 1000 gear set.

I's also interesting that the 1000 RPM output shaft and the two gears all have the same part numbers in all three units.

I'm guessing that the only real differences in the three were the drive shaft needed, the top mount needed, and the lack of a PTO Shield on the 18906

Thanks Old Buzzard. Didn't know there was rear mowers that were 2000 rpm for these
