I have owned a Craftsman 21hp, 42” rider mower for several years (917.28922). I always check the mower deck alignment, left to right, before mowing to get even cuts. After a mowing the deck invariably has shifted so the left side is higher/lower than the right. I am unsure how this happens. I re-align the deck using the left link adjustment nut on the side of the tractor. The owners’ manual implies there are two nuts, one on each side. I have inspected the tractor multiple times and can see no adjustment mechanism on the right side. I have been making due by using the left nut as my only adjustment option, often cutting the grass higher of lower than I desire simply to get an even cut. Am I missing something?

  Welcome to the forum. Have you tried the Sears parts site? It may shed some light. I did find a manual there, no parts listing in it.

Check your air pressure in your tires. If 1 is a couple pounds low or higher than the others it does make them cut uneven.
