Here it is, too much work and tinkering. I just want to cut grass, etc. 1971 Bolens 1256 purchased for $250. I was just going to re-ring the engine but upon opening it, it needed a new crankshaft, connecting rod, and piston. My $150 re-ring turned into an $800 rebuild. Here's what comes to mind that I did to it:
-mower deck has new spindle bearings, idler pulleys, kevlar belt, blades, and small parts
- frame has new hydrostatic oil filter, LED headlights(original shape and size), new taillight not installed.
-electronics are all new including solenoid, starter-generator, coil, regulator, spark plug, spark plug wire, and complete harness.
- additional items include PTO being rebuilt, a hydraulic ram rebuild kit (not installed), new air filter, new muffler (the more expensive stainless one), a couple belts, Bolens wheel weights, and more that isn't coming to mind.
I have not had much seat time because this has been more tinkering then expected. I don't even know if the starter/generator works because I have only pull started it without the belt. One of the belts for the PTO, the one nearest the engine came off the pulley and is getting smoked and chewed up. That was the last straw for me. I have receipts for most if not all parts and most came from Bolens 1000, tubeframes.com, Sam bolens, and Ebay. I also have the old engine parts to show proof they needed replacements. I get it, I have way more money into it than its worth, and its only worth what someone will pay. Also I hope there is some respect that I do not wish to GIVE it away. I will list my price at $750 or OBO. I am located in Amsterdam, NY.
