I have one of these and it has been great when I needed. Had a problem a couple years ago with the Tec engine that was on it so installed a HF Predator Hemi on it. Now it really sings but I sheared a bolt in the main shredder shaft. The owners manual parts manual tells me the size of the bolt but neglected to say what grade, I even wonder if it is indeed a shear bolt because the one that was in it has lasted almost 6 years now.

So if you have a tomahawk or super tomahawk what grade of bolt do you use?

I have had the Super Tomahawk Shredder for about 12 years.  It has a 9 hp Briggs on it.  Never had a problem shearing the bolt.  Have turned the hammers once. Still on original belt but getting wore and should be replaced.  Used a couple times a year.

If in doubt, put a Grade 2 in it. If it shears, that's ok. Bolts are cheap in the long run

That is what I have been doing is putting grade 2 bolts in and some times I can not even finish the job before I am installing another bolt. Have been glad the bolts are sold by the pound at TSC at a reasonable price. I finally found the right part number for that bolt. It is 3/8 16 x 11/2 gr 5.

The belt is a TB part number W5L290 for both the 8 & 5 HP engine chippers.

W5L290  5/8x29 is the proper belt

Thanks for the reply's.
