Just purchased our 1st Speedex yesterday. Not sure how to check fluid for lift, It operates ok but will not stay in up position. Could be the valve. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Hydraulic lift on S19?  I didn't think there were hydraulics on anything but the number series.  I wonder if you have an add-on.  PICTURES PLEASE!

In any case, if it raises but drops right back down it sounds like a valve.

I think the 1631 and 1632 were the first to come from the factory with hydraulics.Of course I could be  wrong. It has happened before.

Any thoughts??? If this was an add-on, someone did a lot of engineering. Open to suggestions, but we're gonna leave it as is. Maybe some one at Sugarcreek will know the tractor. Thanks Carl for putting pics up!!!

Hard to say but my thought is it's not factory.  The Speedex folks were known for making one offs though.  Since the Speedex factory was essentially a blacksmith shop any quality field modifications can look like original work.

One thing that would be a sure tell is if there is evidence of the manual lift lever being cut off.  It would have been welded onto that link that pivots around the left foot rest.  In the 3rd picture I posted I think I can see where it may have been cut off.

What I think I see in the pictures is an electric pump under the seat and a reservoir between the frame rails.  If that's a reservoir it'd normally have a drain plug on the bottom and a bung on top to fill and check the level.  It would also have a vent because the reservoir would have more oil with the cylinder collapsed than open.

I hope you make the Sugarcreek show.  I'd like to look it over.

We looked it over this a.m. and you are correct. The lift lever has been cut off!! Also, if my research is right, the S19 came with a Briggs. This one has the K181 with electric start. She came with turning plow, disc, mower deck, and back drag blade. Everything hooks up to rear lift easily !

How/where's pump?  It's Electric then, not off the engine at all?  Wouldn't think engine could keep the battery charged enough if used a lot? SO, you thinking like one of those all in one hydro units like for dumping trailers and snow-plows kind of unit?  Sure is jambed in there, hard to understand with just pictures for me at least.

The pump sits left to right just under front of seat and reservoir sit fore and aft in between frame rails. We're not touching anything until we take it to Sugarcreek next month. Hoping someone will recognize it and add some insight. The gent that owned it passed and his wife couldn't answer any questions. The pump runs off battery(actually looks like a big starter).

OK, so Sugar Creek is the big Speedex show???  Have a date and place for that?  Probly N-East and far away, just like the tractors, ha.  Have been there couple times for parts and Speedex tractors.  Takes all day for me to drive out and back.

It's all vintage garden tractors. There are just a lot of Speedex around here. Sugar Creek, Ohio May 13, 2017. It will be just below the Dutch Valley Restaurant off St. Rt. 39.
