If I can't do it slow then it's not going to get done.

Got me a couple of Masseys yesterday. Found them on CL.  $70 for both. I think I can make one from the two. The MF7 is a 1969 hydro if I read the numbers rite (serial NO 1590400658). Its missing quite a few body parts and the engine is a newer model 5HP Tecumseh. Seems to be a good motor, I have not had a chance to try and start it yet. Looks like a parts mower to me. Can use the controls and knobs on the other one, which is an MF8 with a gear tranny (serial NO 1590307291). It does have the original engine but someone changed the breather and cut the front grill to make it fit. The mesh in the grill is kinda mangled on one corner. I can turn the engine by hand. Oil looks nasty and will have to be changed before any attempt at starting. The 8 is the one I am going to restore.  Will be late summer or early fall before I can get started on the rebuild. I want to do a ground up restore including a complete rebuild of engine. This will be my first Massey as well as my first restore so I will have a lot of questions.

Those should keep you entertained for some time. What parts of the 7 that can't be used on the 8 might make good trading material. Don

Nice project. Both tractors have the optional running boards for your feet. When your doing stuff, make sure to check the geared transmission for water in it.
