Doing some checking on the heads and cylinders tonight. I'll get the valve clearances in the morning.

Specifications for the 422400 SB attached.

Not sure if I want to replace the valves on this. I replaced them 7 years ago, and the specifications are real close. I measured with the springs installed and came up with,,,

Left Intake = 0.005 (Dead on)
Left Exhaust = 0.009 (Good)
Right Intake = 0.008 (0.002 off)
Right Exhaust = 0.011 (0.002 off)

Everything is clean, looks to have burned even on both sides, very little carbon (could because I mix STP and Stabil in the gas).

I am leaning towards a de-carbon and button it back up.

I'll leave it as it is, The spare engine sounds the same. Both bored to .002 over, new valves rings and pistons 7 years ago,

Got some whip lash this morning, I moved all the tractors out for a shop sleep over and movie time last night. Went to move the tractors closer to the shop this morning incase of rain. I fired up Old Girl to move, put in 2nd HI and let the clutch out (I swear slowly). Well it grabbed and I pulled a wheelie, seat spring bottomed our (thank goodness for the hi back seat, and literally jumped off the pergola. Now I have a kink in the middle of my back.

Detailed the block with the wire dremel and have a second coat applied. still a chance of rain so I don't want to get too many parts that I would need to bring in. Waiting on paint to dry.

On the Briggs Opposed there are two valve breathers. There is a "brown reed valve" that needs to move freely, and oil drain ports that need to be open. Inside is a nylon screen that needs to be intact. Installation requires three gaskets. This is my one thing to do each work evening. Next up is the stator coil.

Really thinking of changing jobs.

Small Engine Repair/Tractor Delivery Position

Pineco Tractor & Equipment - Waco, TX 76706

$30,000 - $50,000 a year

Any how, after a grueling day at work, I re-taped the shroud bolt holes. I had used self-tapers with the drill part cut off previously.
