I've seen that picture online before and I'd swear his head looks Photoshopped. ;-)

Aw c'mon Jim, that wasn't very nice (wish I thought of that one). Besides - I think Ellen Haynes would have picked up on it. She's got Adobe Lightroom so...........

During the weekend of the 1998 Panzer Party, a group of us Board members took a side trip to Afton, VA (near Waynesboro) to visit the home of Austin C.Kennel, former President/General Manager of Copar Incorporated, builder of the Panzer garden tractor. Austin was later president of Pennsylvania Products and owner of Dandy Sales. The purpose of the trip was to present Austin with an honorary PTOC membership award, get aquainted with new board members and just general socializing. At that time, Dandy sales had been sold to Austin's daughter Gloria, who was running the Panzer parts business in a small building next to the Kennel home. When Gloria asked if any of us  were interested in buying any parts while we were there, she didn't have to ask Jim Haynes and I twice. We were like kids in a candy store! There was also plenty of food and talk about Panzer tractor history.

What impressed me the most about visiting Austin and his wife Betty was that I never got the feeling that he thought he was anything special just because of his ties to the Panzer. He asked each of us to come back and visit him any time we wanted, and you could tell that he really meant it. I never got the chance to make it back there but am very greatful that I had the chance to meet Austin at least once. A truly nice man!

  • KennyP, Clint and Newpaws493 have said thanks
