Cub cadet xt1 gt50 vs john deere x300 series

I was originally looking to buy a new john deere for mowing about 2 acres and for snow blowing about 400 feet of driveway. Lawn area is flat. Driveway has a slight incline around 4%.

I took a look at cub cadet offerings and came across the xt1 gt50. It is $2700 and has a k58 trany, 25hp kohler engine, 22" rear tires, 50" deck, and claims to have ground engaging attachment capabilities.

The jd x300 series mostly has k46 tran, 20" tires, 20hp engines and is more expensive. What am i missing? Seems like the cub cadet checks all the boxes for my needs at a much better price with bigger engine, better transmission, and bigger tires.

Any experience with that cub model or insight into what the john deere has that the cub doesnt.

The deere pry has a kawasaki motor, personally id go with the kohler and the cub cadet.

Deere youll pay for the name.

Or you could save quite a bit of money and buy an older machine that would do what you need. That would be (in my opinion) the best option

You could find a really nice late model Wheel horse that still has that "built like a brick outhouse" quality, Kohler command single cylinder engine and the 8 speed unidrive transaxle that is nearly indestructable. They are the cheapest IMHO model to outfit with attachments over the older IH CC an JD line up. There is zero need for Vtwin and high hp = high fuel consumption, to mow a yard. The old single cylinder engines might not be as smooth but are easier on fuel and cheaper to maintain overall. But between the two you have looked at, the CC is a better deal. Mike

Just my 2 cents worth,I assume your looking to buy new as opposed to wrenching on older stuff. Even with a flat lawn I would stay away from ANYTHING with a K46, they are non serviceable and will limit you in the future if you decide you want to do some grunt work around the yard. The K58 in the Cub is just a K46 with a charge pump. The JD will have a heavier frame.
If you don't mind spending in the area of $3200, check out the Husqvarna GT54LS. K66 hydro with electronic diff lock,54" reinforced deck, and a 24 HP B&S. The frame is not as heavy gauge as the JD, however I have done some heavy duty mowing for 3 years with mine, and also have a JB Jr on it and have had no problems. Good luck with whatever you choose.
