Looking for an older ride-on garden tractor to repair or restore with the kids. The 9 year old is pretty interested in anything with an engine so I'd like a project to teach the basics of repair and TLC, not a basket case to break the bank.

I'm pretty open to make and model. Doesn't need to be huge and powerful or have any implements.

Just shoot me what you have and a number. I don't have time to shop at auctions for all the steals so hopefully someone can pass on a deal.

Thanks
Chris

PS - I've kept an eye on craigslist but haven't seen much besides some overpriced Gravelys. Every time I post a "wanted" ad like this one it gets flagged almost immediately. This forum seems like a lot less hostile place than CL and I am very thankful for that.

Where are you located? I have a old Sears Custom that could use a home. Good project for kids. Have deck also.

That's quite the road trip! I don't think I'll be making it up your way any time soon but thank you nonetheless.

Got any mower junk yards around? I picked up a project from a local one (Central Texas) for $150.00

I'm just south of you.

I have an old Speedex, I think it's a S23 model. motor is not locked up, but it is complete. It will need a rear tire or a patch put over tear and tubed. I've had it for 3 yrs now, just sitting in storage, not sure what it will take to start or what it will need.

I also have a few lawn tractors I can part with.

You're a bit closer but still out of travel range for me. I can borrow my dad's truck for semi-local stuff (~150 miles) but would need to drag out the 12 mpg SUV and a trailer to go that far. Google shows close to 500 miles one way. The cost of gas alone would exceed the cost of the mower. Thank you though!

Not that I am aware of. I guess I should try searching the net.

That's a neat project. I would definitely prefer something more "tractor-like" and that Speedex fits the bill. It looks pretty good too. Hope I can afford it lol.

Now I just need to figure out how to send a private message on this forum!  :D

Also thank you to everyone who has already posted. I had no idea I would get so many helpful replies so quickly!

Edit: Sent a PM. If that's out of my budget I'd be happy to talk lawn tractors.

Not too late, all I've done so far was bother Tahoe with a PM.

I am surprised to have this many choices. And that price is hard to beat!
