a 54" deck for the S/GT series? There's one on eBay that claims to be. I thought they were either 48" or 60". I'm thinking it's really a 48" cut and 54" overall width outside to outside of deck shell.

Depends if it's a fabricated deck. Only way to know for sure on those is measure from blade tip to blade tip. I see the add your talking about it looks like a 48" deck.

I know someone with a S14 with a fabricated 50" deck on it. I did some rewiring work on it for him and had to pull the deck off to get up under to rewire the 1 safety switch. That deck was super super heavy. I'm thinking it was between 150-175lbs.

Well like I thought, it is a 48" deck, 54 is edge to edge of the deck shell not the cutting width. I have it now.
Guy has the rest of the tractor except for the engine, another one pirated to sell, rest of machine looks pretty good. I told him to get ahold of me when he is ready to sell.

I wish I could find a couple of Cub cadet decks in this good of shape for this kind of price that aren't 250+ miles away.

ok... home with it now (well actually several hours ago, but still layin in the bed of my truck) it is a 48" deck, like I thought, but have a couple questions; the model number part of the decal is missing that chunk, can see most of the serial number. was there more than 1 model number of 48" deck used on these tractors over the years?  The guy I got the deck from still has the S16H that it was removed from, minus the engine.    Should have looked on it to see what the model number of the tractor was if still visible....

My NH S14 and the deck from my GT19 (both 48 inchers)  are 30 miles away, not readily able to look at them for their numbers... as I remember the NH (built by Speery Rand) had a metal tag as opposed to just a sticker for the Ariens...

next Q; any hope getting the deck model number stickers either thru Ariens or reproduced by someone?

well since they are obliterated how do I know what numbers should be there? I am going out to my storage barn later today, IF the deck that came with my GT19 still has its model number intact, (also a 48" Flex-n-Float deck) would that be the same model number? Were there more than 1, 48" deck used on these thru the years??? I'm mainly asking for future reference in case I would need to order parts.
