What are the odds of this NOS battery being good?

Got to be late 70's early 80's from the packaging

This should fit my Toro Guardian :D

Do you have to add acid? Or already in it?

Instructions say "Nickel Candium" battery no maintenance so I assume everything was pre set, but I doubt they originally shipped these charged?

It wouldn't surprise me if they were shipped charged. Isn't nickel cadmium the same as what they used in flashlight batteries like AA, C, D that were rechargeable? They came with an initial charge.

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about it.  https://en.wikipedia...cadmium_battery   I didn't realize they were considered a wet cell battery. Do you have the charger for it? Measure DC volts across the terminals. Does it show anything?

I believe the Toro Guardian battery mounted to the underside of the top handle plate.  ...The battery case was a different shape than the battery in your pic.

I'm not sure, but I may have a battery case for the Guardian (I used one in an alarm system I built).  .....The Toro battery had a red plastic housing with an aluminum cover held on with 2 Phillips flat-head screws.  ....The Ni-Cad cells could be replaced individually if necessary, but they were not available through Toro or Tecumseh.  ....My memory thinks there were 6 cells inside the housing.
