I finally found someone who might be able to fix my oh140 which seems to have a disconnected rod. I will need to take out the engine for starters. Are there any guides?

Take lots of pictures before you start , so you have a visual record . Label/mark any wiring . Raid the kitchen for sandwich bags to put bolts and other small parts in , also label these .

Drain the oil.

Pressure wash or gunk down the engine and surrounding area .

Almost forgot , download a manual

If you can manage to disassemble the tractor and extract the motor then why don't you give the engine repair a go yourself? There are plenty of guys on here willing to help with all the advice. Grab a repair manual and have some faith in yourself, it is amazing how easy it is to learn what seems to be an extremely difficult task!

Is there a link to a manual here which would actually show me how to replace a rod?

On the top of page next to forums is the manuals section , click on that and then find your engine , you may have to search around to find what you need . I think Oldcowhand put in some manuals in for the tech engine.
