so i got the tractor going today, long enough to get the creep out of the hydro. just played around with a linkage and i got it. so now i can start it up without fear of 1200 pounds+ of machine crushing me.

Glad to hear you got the hydro all fixed.

What exactly is the tractor doing when it stalls? Does it just cut right out?

Glad to hear you got it going. Would definitely need a little more info in regards to what it is doing when it stalls.

you can hear it slow down and then it just goes, theres a connection loose, im gonna try that out. it sounds like the problem the guy described to me when i bought it and he said a small engine mechanic said it was the coil.

well i drove it around the house 3 and a half times, it stall on the other side of the yard. i had to use a 1998 weed eater lawn tractor to tow it back to the driveway, not easy ok? but my friend thinks the battery is so dead and doesnt hold charge that the reason it stall usually 15 seconds after i take it off the jumpers is the battery doesnt hold a charge at all. therefore theres no electric to make spark. think its possible?

It's very possible if you haven't charged the battery. Do you have a battery charger? If you don't you can hook the jumper cables up to it from a car and let it run for about 10 minutes. Then start it and if it runs longer then before you know why. Hopefully you have a battery charger and can try charging the battery, it might be alright if you can trickle charge it. Might have to dig in to the charging system on the tractor then and find out why it isn't charging the battery.

Is the battery leaking the acid out? If so, need to get it out and neutralize that acid. Being that old of a battery, I would just get a new one. That's probably causing the stalling issue. No power to run the engine.
