So, there's a tractor parked in the shop at school...

$100 for it. It runs, drives...

I was planning on making a racing mower out of it, but it's a hydro...

I've been told that all that a pulley swap would do is make the pump move faster and that's it.

Would I see any increase in ground speed if i were to swap the pulleys?

Yes to output speed will increase as well.

Only problem is a Hydro trans has an RPM limit.  Sundstrant is 4000 RPMs.

I agree! Most hydros are limited on RPMs. What tractor is it?

Older? Newer? That could make a difference on the RPMs?

If its a Crapsman and its $100, its too high.

Here is what I'm basing the "too high" price on:

Late 80's hydro's were mostly throw away's, as far as I am concerned! Wind that puppy up and let's see how long it lasts!

I agree. Get it as cheap as possible. And see just what it will do till it lets loose.

This goes against my better judgment but, sure I'm down for that!

Dad said that I won't be buying anything more (tractor wise) after I bring the Massey 14 home... I'll just keep it at school 😂
