I thought this would be easy, but...

Taking a 18322 tiller off of a 1467 (gear drive) and putting it on a 1668 (hydro).

Getting it attached was easy, except for the lift cable:

  1. I reversed the lift arm extension on the tiller so it is now offsetting to the right ("passenger side")
  2. added spacers between the lift arm and lift arm extension (adding more offset to the right).  There is now a clear shot from the lift arm extension on the tiller to the hydro lift arm on the tractor (where the snowblower lift tube attaches)
  3. but cannot figure out where the lift cable roller (pulley) needs to be mounted.  On the 1467G, there is a cross member above the axle with 2 arms, but not on the hydro.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks

Brad

As far as i can tell the hydro eliminators don't use the pulley bracket from the gear drives.  Instead there is bent wire, like a coat hanger, that bolts onto the right frame rail above the foot rest.  It is for keeping the slack off the hydro tube.  with weight on the cable it shouldn't contact the tube.  I was able to look at the cable while working the lift lever to make sure.

Attached a copy of the sleeve hitch showing the cable etc.  As far as i can tell the lift parts are the same as for tiller.  i think there is also a tiller breakdown in the manuals section.

Here is a tiller manual.  If you scroll to figure 7 you will see part "O" called a "wire form" what i was talking about above.  really a piece of coat hanger would work, it just holds the slack.

Thanks a million for the explanation, and the owners manual!
