Was looking through various owners manuals for tube frames and noticed that in the owners manual for a 1254 they show a protective cover - just wonder if anyone has one and if so could they post a picture of it?  I am thinking of trying to make one for the 1053 I am working on and would be interested to know the location and how many grommets were used in them and any other information - I assume that they were made out of a vinyl material similar to what was used for the soft cabs.

I have a couple, its basically the same vinyl material as the soft cabs they had, maybe a tad thicker

Red cover is a small frame one through so use that on the Ride-a-Matics and EK's

They were designed to blanket the whole tractor and touch the ground a bit.

That would be great to have each trac covered up

Again I doubt a cover made it to the the UK . If it did then would have rotted away by now

They are very heavy duty vinyl. Sorry, I don't have any specific details for dimensions. Pictured is a NOS cover I sold about a year ago that was for a Large Frame.

I really wish I had not seen this post, I didn't know you could get a Bolens cover and now I really what one :wallbanging: . Chances of finding one in the UK are slim to zero.

I would like to echo that and I am sure we are all interested to see the details.

I apologize for dragging up this old thread but since Mother Nature is in a very bad funk I have decided to try and make a new protective cover for my 1053 using some economy red vinyl - if it works out it should provide protection for the elements if I have to store the tractor outside overnight to gain some shop space and should keep the dirt off of the tractor when it is not being used.  Started by making the top and end piece from two pieces of vinyl sewn together and then I did a test fit over the top of the tractor to see how it would drape around the sides of the hood, steering wheel, seat and fender.  Once I saw how it formed I cut a piece about 33" high and stapled it to the top to see if a full width piece (approximately 54") would be long enough for the sides but it will need to have an extension piece sewn to it by the looks of it.  Will have to do some more measuring to see how it will wrap around the ends and figure out how much to add.

What a great project and how fitting for you to take it on as it's an extension of your upholstery work. Love the idea.

Will you be offering these for sale at some point?

I may be offering them for sale - will have to see how this one turns out and how well it fits and looks when it is done.  I am hoping to add a drawstring around the bottom and some grommet eyes so it could be easily held on if I wanted to transport the tractor on a trailer.  I am not trying to duplicate an original Bolens cover (although it would be nice to have the Bolens and Husky name on the cover) but rather just provide a reasonable quality cover that fits nicely to protect the tractor from the elements for brief periods of time if necessary.

Something else I am running around in the back of my mind would be a slip over type of seat cover that would just slide down over the back of the seat and cover the back and lower part of the seat so that it would stay dry and protected from water when washing the tractor.  I have used a garbage bag in the past but sometimes if there is a bit of wind they can come off at inopportune times (like when I am rinsing off around the seat) and the other problem with the garbage bag is to keep the bottom tucked in around the lower part of the seat so the fender and area under and around the seat gets cleaned and the dirt gets rinsed away.
