Ultimately if I fix this the way that I want to the whole thing will be rewired and the idiot proof system will be moot. Someday.
I have rewired 2 of my Ariens to do away with the safety switches. Half of the wiring was missing on both tractors when I got them. It makes for a very reliable machine that is easy to troubleshoot. Some people get worked up about removing the safety switches, but I grew up on tractors without them and was taught to respect the machinery. I like to say the tractors without safety switches have "natural selection" systems on them.
