I didn't realize the reel shaft was that pitted from rust.  ....Are you going to fill the pits, or leave it that way? 

 

The weather has been that way down here, too.

I think I'll have to leave it, there's so many pits and so little room to get in there.

That reel must have had a hard life previously, who knows how long it sat in the yard at rays getting rained on ....... :wallbanging:

Reel going back together, almost finished it but hit a snag on the replcement sprocket I bought Bolens must have had the hubs specially made for them so I will have to get mine turned down to fit into the hub assembly.

Hope to start the tractor next few days, I could not source any shim washers for the transmission hub but lucked out today calling a former dealer in PA who had 5 of each size I needed so bought them all !

Also got the reel mower sprocket machined down so it fits in the hub

If I painted it, it wouldnt fit :D

Probably will paint the end of it when I do final touch ups after its all together
