I pulled the coil today, and am a bit perplexed as it all came off in one piece. The coil is EarthBird 008.jpg

I have never seen one that way, but back in the day, you may have changed the whole thing.

I pulled the coil today, and am a bit perplexed as it all came off in one piece. The coil is riveted to the plate. I am not familiar with this setup. How do you change the coil? Do you have to drill out the rivets to replace or what? I have included a picture of front and rear.

I apologize for the delay in getting this Clinton info for you.

Your model VS-1100 engine is here: Clinton VS-1100-1000 series engine - Manuals - Garden Tractor Talk - Forums

Info on the recoil starter is here: Clinton Recoil Starters - Manuals - Garden Tractor Talk - Forums

The black ignition coil can be removed from the steel laminations it is mounted on. .....You do not have to replace the entire assembly. .....A #30560 Tecumseh coil should fit on the laminations, and a # 30548 Tecumseh condenser should work also.

The electronic ignition module which you posted will only eliminate the points & condenser. ....If your coil is bad, you still will not have any spark.

Slow progress, as my mowing has taken up so much of my free (?) time up. Update! I have ordered a condensor for the old VS1100! Should be here anytime now. I am hopeful that will do the trick to getting her spark. If that is the case, then I will plug along slowly but surely on my neverending Roto Rugg project. Stay tuned for further developments.
