The only batteries I can get around here are the L type posts. Of course the old tractors I have are all round post connectors, and nobody around here sells the connectors for L type posts so I have to order some online and replace them. Is there a reasonable way I can get a battery hooked up temporarily so I can still use it while I wait on shipping? Just wrap a short length of fat copper wire around the post and connector?
Workaround for wrong battery terminals?

they do make screw in posts. I have used them on deep cycle batteries in tractors to be able to use some free batteries we bought at work for a temporary project. I got the posts at orielly for $5

Open the gap on the round connector so it's wide enough to fit the post between it, then just snug it up with a nut and bolt.
That is the easiest, fastest, and cheapest way to use what you already have.

I understand the "L" post thing now, I thought it was some professional lingo for the "female" post. I cut the ends off and get the crimp on welding lead connectors. They are half the price of the same connectors in the electrical department.
Make sure you tape up the POS lead if you are using the round battery cable ends on a tab battery, especially if it is around a fuel tank. A ground out could get ugly
