I am thinking of picking up an Ariens S-18 but it appears to have no rear PTO. Is this normal? Is it a quick fix? I am a newbie.

Welcome to GTT. I'm not familiar with the Ariens so I refer you to our Manuals Section where you can download the manual. Many Garden Tractors had a PTO that was an option. You may have to look around for one. Good Luck, Rick

Welcome to GTtalk!

Rear pto was an option. Not hard to put on, just pricey to add it now.

yup. I picked up a parts machine  via Ebay a few months ago 2 states away/ partly for a rear PTO that was claimed to "be there" but when I got there it wasn't.....  fortunately there are other parts on it that will do me some good.... I'll find one eventually,,,, I won't pay as much for a rear PTO as I have for complete tractors before, but that seems the going price at the moment. .

Well, I am a newbie and so I misidentified the GT 16 as an S 18. I have a lot to learn. I bought it and am happy so far.

That's an easy mistake to make. The main difference is the engine size.

Since I last posted I mounted the mower deck but the drive shaft installation will have to wait for parts. I may try to "Oklahoma engineer" some pins but maybe not. The front PTO kills the engine when I engage it. Anyone have any Ideas? I also have a very small fuel leak. I think everything is fixable so far.
