Well it was a long stressful deal and I'm not sure why I went through all the hassle the owner put me through, but I got a 1253 now. The owner took my deposit and we agreed on a price and then a week later was trying to raise the price on me because he left the add up and had several higher offers coming in. Well I told him I wasn't paying a penny more than we agreed on and he can either give my deposit back and sell it for more or let me pick it up. He choose to still let me pick it up. It was the weirdest Bolens deal I've every done and the most quite load I've ever made. The guy helped me push the tractor on the trailer, Asked if I was all set, I said yea, he shut his garage and went in the house and left me in his driveway to tie it down. I hope the tractor treats me well now, because he certainly did not. Here are a few pictures. The tractor fires up if you put gas in the cylinder but it's not getting fuel from the tank for some reason. The pto and mower belt need to be changed, but it's in decent shape and has been stored inside. Enjoy!

Glad you were able to pick it up with no further problems. Some people are just weird!

First thing I would suspect especially since it sat so long would be the fuel pump diaphragms are dried out and not pumping fuel , you may be able to rejuvenate them by pouring some gas down the holes.

Thats a good looking machine and is in pretty solid shape!

Nice looking tractor that appears to be pretty much unmolested from the pictures - where is your snow to try out the blade?

Don't look now but the "Bolens Bug" has struck again - hopefully this should inoculate you for a few months.

Snow all melted away over the last few days and its not looking like we are gonna see much in the near future. You can call this buy the Bolens bug for sure. I don't know why I bought this tractor to be honest. I told myself recently that I'm only looking for a hydro tube frame, or a 900 round hood, or some of the more rare attachments to buy, but I saw this machine and bought it. After I bought it I kept saying to myself "why did you buy that?!?!" and then when the seller started trying to raise the price on me with my deposit in his pocket I thought I was going to loose the tractor deal and my $50.  But in the end it all worked out. The tractor looks like it was painted once, but it is in pretty decent shape. If the snow holds off I'm hoping to possibly get some garage time to get it running and then I can maybe get some use out of it.

Thats very smart. Great buy even if the seller was an odd ball. Plenty of them in the UK!!

Why do you guys find the tidy tractors??

Ones we find are battered up piles of tin

We should start a topic of the most battered Bolens you have found :D

i sold a husquvarna 25 hp tractor to a guy last summer, he was in the process of moving. we gave me a 400.00 deposit on it. i agreed to store it for him. a month later he gave me the other 400.00 and picked it up.he also had a bill of sale his wife a lawyer drew up. well he had to take it back to her to do it again, it had a bunch of crap in it like it dont have no known defects, hour meter right stuff like that.i told him there was nothing wrong with it that i knew of, and he was going to get a simple i sold it to you for 800.00 as is bill of sale. he didnt like that so i gave him a choice, he could have his money back and go buy a new one with a warranty, or buy mine. he bought mine.

That's a lovely looking 1253. If we find one of those in that condition in the U.K. I would be amazed.

Hope the fuel situation is sorted soon.

Great looking tractor. As my UK chums have already said, no way would you find one this condition in the U.K.

It will be interesting to know what you need to do to resolve the fuel problem

I won't give deposits on them...I pick them up when I buy them....people are crazy and will screw with almost any deal.  glad u were able to get it....finally

if u hurry up and get it running u could enter that in this month's tractor of the month contest....it looks pretty original to me!
