Going to look at a 14d ford lawn tractor tomorrow anything to watch for ,first diesel tractor lawn mower size I've had a chance to own that was close. Owner states it has 600 hours new battery and he just rebuilt fuel pump. Thanks for any help.

#1  Ease of starting, cold and hot,

#2  Excessive exhaust smoke, white, blue, or black

#3  Check for excessive blow by at the crankcase breather tube.

#4  Water in the oil

#5  Air bubbles in the radiator, head gasket problems.

Make sure the hydro is smooth and quiet and it doesn't vibrate when driving. Those had some pretty pricey driveshafts in the early models.
And be sure it has a complete mowing deck if you want to mow.
Those are shaft drive to the deck I believe.

Well it came home with me in really good shape a little hard to start but owner said dealer recommended glow plugs. It was his dads tractor came with deck all manuals and the original invoice when tractor was bought new

I too brought one home, on December 28th 2016. S-I-L had it and he traded it to me for an air compressor and golf club bending tools that I had all of $40 in. It runs really well but has electrical problems (no battery charge). The hour meter does work however and shows 264 hours. 

 

Could see that the ground wire was burned up and took the entire harness out and after finding that no other wires were affected. Put in a new ground and reassembled the harness. The ground on the regulator plug was also burned as was the wire between the plug and regulator.  Alternator puts out 40Vac  and I ordered a new aftermarket regulator this morning.

 

It has a 44' mower deck.

Sorry for the double post, can't figure out how to remove it.....

 

Been looking and searching Google for information on the Ford GT65, Shibaura LGT141 for weeks.

Tried Bing and bingo, pages and pages of info.

So here I am at GTtalk and loving it!!!

I found a "service" manual on another site but when I tried to print it out on my high quality dot matrix printer the 1st 6 pages did fine but then it started printing one or two characters per page.
