I recently purchased 2 Bolens Versa Matics and some implement and am looking to get as much info as possible. One is nearly complete and original. The other has a Chinese motor on it but I have the original Briggs that was on it. I also have a few implements that came with it as well. Curious what it's all worth, the age of these machines and advice on restoration.

Based on the serial numbers in the pictures posted above is there a reference to the year they were built? Also what Briggs engine is original to these? And 8r6 or something else? The Briggs motor on them doesn't have any serial number on it.

Bolens never released production dates by serial number information to the dealers back in that era.  .....Possibly, someone (WilberJ ?) may have some info gleaned from factory records.

Bolens printed info also has some inaccuracies, so not all info can be taken as gospel.

According to some Bolens paperwork, the Model 15FC tractors were produced in 1954 thru 1957.  ....For 1954-56 they were described as 2.5hp. ....For 1957 it was described as 2.75hp.

The Model 153 tractors were 1958 thru 1961 models.  .....For 1958 they were listed as 2.75hp, while from 1959 thru 1961 were described as 3hp.

Bolens paperwork shows all these tractors were equipped with B&S Model 81302 engines, but I'm doubtful.

Both of these are slightly different. Different hitch set up and one has no pulley for front attachments like the sickle mower. Could one be a Power Ho or something different?

Based on the model numbers, both tractors are Versa-Matics, and both tractors had the same front & rear hitches.

If the hitches are different on your tractors, someone may have changed or modified parts or something is missing.

The engine pulley on the black engine appears to have been modified or replaced.

Manuals for both models are in the Bolens VersaMatic section of the Manuals forum linked here:

Your pics don't show enough details to answer all your questions.
