So, I just got a 1668L running with a single stage blower.  We went on our first snow blowing ride tonight with 1" of light snow, and full speed forward, full throttle.

2 things happened that I was a little disappointed with

1. the engine exhaust blows right on the snow blower chute, the snow hits the chute (18 degrees outside) and the snow melts/clogs in the chute. Has anyone else seen this.  Do I need to divert the exhaust???

2. the blower throws the snow about 2 feet.  Based on my John Deere 210, I was hoping for something a little more like 15 feet-ish.

Does anyone else have these issues??  Do I just need deeper snow?

Thanks for any comments.

Deeper snow will most likely help with a single stage blower, without enough snow there is not enough mass for it to toss. As far as the exhaust I have heard others complain about the same issue. Changing the exhaust angle should take care of that.

Of all the different brand blowers I have used. They all seem to work best when the snow reaches the auger shaft.

Welcome

With 1'' of snow that sounds about right, these single stage blowers need to be fed a high volume of snow to throw it far

Thank you all!  I have some curved exhaust pipe that will fit over the Bolens exhaust end.
