Just wondering what year you could get your power king with a round hood....did it start as an option and then a standard feature?

It didn't started as an option in 46', I think it wasn't available till the early 50's, and it was optional when it was available. All tractors had a hood when they went to the "short hood" in the mid 60's, 65' I think.

In the years that I've been paying attention to early EPCO tractors, 1954 is about the earliest that I've noticed a round hood and at that point in time, it was an option. The "standard" tractors were still hoodless. By the late 50's, I'm pretty sure basic Economy and PK tractors could still be purchased with without a hood, however most, if not all I've seen by 1958'ish have had a hood, or at least provisions for a hood. 1963 was the last year for the round hood.
