Twas the night before Christmas

     A tall glass of drink,

I headed to the shop

    Could not sleep a wink.

Working on a tractor

    Kohler K181,

Need to get it running

    For my youngest son.

When all of a sudden

    I heard such a clatter,

Threw open the door

To see what was the matter.

And what do my eyes

    Seem to appear,

An original 110

    '66 John Deere.

Complete with a cab

    blower and hitch,

Headlights, a lighter

    and hydraulic lift.

So I opened the door

    and I climbed inside,

Started it up

    and went for a ride.

The motor sounds good

   as well as the gears,

Variator works too

   considering the years.

Started the blower

    barely made a sound,

Couldn't try it out

    no snow on the ground.

The hydraulics seem fine

    they lifted with ease,

I'm so excited

     that I started to pee.

So I turned around

      headed straight for the shop,

I got on the phone

      and quickly called Pop.

He needed to see

      this smile on my face,

And while he was here

      help me find some space.

So we tucked, we jockied,

      moved things about,

Surely it'll fit

in my mind there's no doubt.

Well we got it in

now my heart's full of cheer,

So Merry Christmas to all

      and Happy New Year!

The tractors were all sleeping

So tucked in their shed

Not a mouse dare stir

Least they end up dead. . . .

Cans of green paint and yellow,
Black red and white,
Were lined up on shelving,
But at a safe height.
