Guys, I REALLY need to find an air filter for the '77 G10 with the Briggs 10 HP engine.

It's just an exposed filter. No cover.

Bolens part number is 1731947

It's #96 in the pic below.

I'm also missing piece #97 as well, but that just looks like a large flat washer, so I think I can find something like that.

After some searching I managed to find one that matches to your engine model.
Can you get a pic of the air cleaner area. This filter has an ID of 2'' and is 3 3/4'' High. Does that sound right for your setup?

B&S # 390930 or #393957S (new number) = Stens # 100-073

4-1/4" O.D. x 2" I.D. x 3-3/4" High

Can you use one of these? ......They are all over the 'net (Amazon, Ebay & many others) for $6.99 +up. B&S lists them at $11.99.

Or, how about the equivalent to a Wisconsin LO-173B filter as used on 7-8-&10 hp Wisconsin engines?

I was really hoping that someone with a G10 could tell me what they are using.

The reason I'm asking that there isn't one on the engine right now. If I would have had one, I could have matched it, or at least measured it.

I have a NAPA close by, and figure that they will be the best bet.

Any way, here's a pic from the G Series "Safety and Operation Instructions" manual:

I did some measuring, and those numbers look right.

I'll check with NAPA and see what they have.
