I liked your tool for putting the splines in the coupler. When I put a keyway in small couplers I just cranked the slide.

On a little 6" lathe the small wheel is hard to turn and puts a bit of stress on the carriage gears - the handle set up is fairly simple and gives more leverage so it is not nearly as fatiguing on repetitive passes.

The lathes I operated were at least 16" or bigger. One lathe I operated when I was a production machinist would swing 75" x 30'.
