Got the clutch ordered and overall just been soaking this thing down with PB blaster and WD-40 to get everything loosened up.  for the time being I think I will end up removing the loader so I can get the tractor into the garage and torn apart.  Fired right up today even without glow plugs, going to be sweet once it is done.

Be sure to check the pilot bearing in the end of the crankshaft. When I got my

G154 the clutch wouldn't release the whole way with pedal pushed in.

When I split mine in two I found someone stuck a part of a tin can

into the worn out pilot bearing to fix it.

Duh, gee that didn't work!

I made a new one from oilite bronze because I was unable

to find a new one online.

Also,  here is a link to my exhausting repair of my G154.

Great find for sure.  I am looking at a G172 with a deck.  Looks to have been parked for a while, like last year some time.  Just listed on CL and haven't heard back from the owner yet.  One problem is it is a 4 hours drive one way.  Long way to drag a trailer id it don't turn out to be as stated.  Price also tell me it could have some issues.  Cosmetically, it looks better than yours but what does that mean.  A year ago I had a Kubota B7100 hydro that had a clutch to disengage the PTO's and everything behind it.  It was stuck solid also.  I dropped the deck and used it for a knock around tractor.  Blocked the clutch pedal down when I parked it for the day.  A week later it came loose by itself.  You might try that before splitting it.  Just might get lucky like I did.   Good luck and enjoy..

I have the new clutch and bearings but the tractor is in storage until I decide to start messing with it again.  Weathers been terrible and my back yard is a muddy mess so I am limited to what I can do until it dries up.
