Yes and no. Yes if fluid looks bad and you can get movement after filter and fluid change. No if no improvement after change possible pump damage or stuck valve.

Thanks gopher. Awesome with all your help.

If you would, upload these to the manual section. They disappear in the posts.

Hello

Finally some small updates.

Cleaned the tractor some days ago (but still need more) and also bought new motoroil, new gasket, new springs and new airfilter and prefilter for carburetor. Also drained all hydraulic oil, it was around 2-2,2 L that came out of it..

Today I finally bought new oilfilter and 4 L of atf type A oil. I have started to fill it and it got like 2 L, but it seems to be a very slow process so it will take some time...

Carburator is leaking and I have also destroyed some threads that were already bad. So new carb will be ordered. It runs and I will be able to test it and see if hydraulics works after filling process is done.

Hi,i don't know if someone already helped you or not.I just got a Gilson Hydro 16"freaking awesome machine".My hydrostatic transmission was dry as well.I put a quart in it and ran it for a second.I then drained what was in it.I put 4 quarts pf  O reillys Merc 3 transmission fuild and their PH43 equalivent filter which was a microguard. After I don't that, started it up and it took off.I hope its that simple for you and you don't have broken parts.Whne you drain the quart out, look for shiny specks of metal. That will tell you if you have a problem or not.I love my Gilson.I got the heavy steel front blade and 48inch mowing deck with it.It also has the hydrolift 3 point hitch.Gilson made some great stuff and I was told the Hydro16 was"their"best tractor that they produced.Anyways good luck on your transmission.
