I have a Wards Gilson tractor with a single cylinder Briggs & Stratton 16 HP engine with a 4 speed transmission. The tractor was left in the barn when I bought the property so I have no information on it what year etc. It does not have a mower deck it had a roto tiller but was missing all the parts to connect it so I sold the roto tiller since I have one for my bigger Kubota tractor. I would like to possibly put a mower deck on it but I am not sure what parts I might need. I do have a small box with some pulleys and other misc parts that is marked mower deck so I am guessing they were for this tractor. I will post a couple pictures of it.

Thanks Mike

Welcome to GTT. That will be a good tractor when you get it running. Keep looking, you may still find the mower deck. You can search our Manuals Section for the manuals that go to your machine. Good Luck, Rick

Thanks for the welcome it has a manual lift lever on the other side of the tractor. It is in pretty good shape no rust because it has been in a barn for years. I am having a hard time reading the tag but I believe it is marked GIL 33168A / 63563 using these numbers and looking through the manual section I can't find a match. I will take some additional photos and post them maybe someone here has one like it.

Thanks Mike

Yes it works, I will look into that. I need to do some tuning on the engine it runs OK but not great I need to try adjusting the governor again it is better than it was but now I don't seem to get enough RPM. I have a non contact tachometer I need to check it.

Is that one missing the PTO engagement that goes over the engine? Not that familiar with that particular model, but the prior stuff had a rod over the engine to engage the mule drive that usually got pitched once the mower deck went bad.

Thanks no I had not but unless I can get this thing running better I don't want to spend too much on it.

The PTO lever is still there and works but the pulley that goes under the front end seems to be gone but it maybe in a box of parts I found. Before I moved in they had a guy come in and take a bunch of scrap metal away and I have a feeling some of the parts for this tractor left with that guy. It had a shaft driven rototiller but there were no parts to make it work and since I had a rototiller for my Kubota I sold that attachment on CL to get it out of my way.

I have seen your thread I do have a question where did you get a flojet Carb for $40 new?

Thanks Mike
