That's an issue with phone uploads. Happens all the time.

Going back to look at the first pics again for inspiration

Ok, I thought I'd do a little real digging while the kids get ready.
I was trying to use the model number you posted originally. After some google-foo and whatnot, I think I am no closer to pinpointing. It very well could be 67, But like the first few of that year.
It's either they were using up the last of the red flat fenders in early 67 or they were running the decals early in late 66.
Either one is possible. Stripmine.org/Sears shows that model as a 66. He's usually pretty accurate.
One other thing. I am trying to remember a previous model that had electric startbut no lights. Interesting

This is my 1967 Sears Custom 6.
1967 Sears Custom 6
Model# 917.25020
Serial# 1746
Engine# 143-656122 SER 8048R
This is the only picture that I have on phone right now. I can get more of it later if needed. Hope this helps.

Here is another little conundrum. I was trying to cross the model from yours to give her a starting place to find engine part numbers...
Your engine comes up on tecumseh's cross as a 7hp.

Is it possible that yours was replaced?

I've been on the stripmine site. And that's where I figured it was a 66 and the other one that I have is a 67. I've also read some places that they made custom...customs which the last 2 numbers in the serial numbers were "off" per say.

Dave is not in the game anymore. I have considered trying to download every manual off his site, but don't have the computer or space to do it. One of these days he will let it go by the way side and we will lose all that stuff.
