I am putting my 73 up for sale.  This is the first garden tractor I bought back in 99.  It is also the first garden tractor I ever painted and worked on by myself.  I had it sandblasted and repainted it as well as adding new decals.  The engine used oil pretty good when I bought it but ran well.  I tore it down and had it bored and put a new piston and rings as well as a new connecting rod in it.  It also received new valves as well and I rebuilt the carb and added the wheel weights. The work was done in 2003 and it has been run less than 20 hours since then just putting around at tractor shows and on an off a trailer.  You can see by the pictures that the paint has not completely burnt off the muffler and exhaust elbow.  I don't use it and never have so it's time to let it go.  It would make someone a handy tractor for a lawn cart or sweeper or maybe even a plow tractor.

It has in the past been hard to start.  When it would come up on compression it would slow down and sometimes even stop and then roll on.  I believe it is either an issue with the Automatic Compression Release or a weak battery.  I put the battery in it from my 2 year old zero turn and it seems to start it just fine without a problem.  At least it did when I got it out of storage this weekend where it has sat for almost 3 years without being run.  Fresh gas and it was up and running.  The only other thing I can think of that might be a problem is the tank used to get damp around the fuel bowl but I have not noticed it or smelled it doing so the past few days since it's been here at my house.  Those are the only 2 things that are wrong with it that I know of.  The paint job is FAR from great but it is ok for a working tractor.  There is a spot in the hood where someone chipped it at a show and it has a dot of paint the wrong shade on it.

I don't really want to part with it but it NEVER gets used so there is no point in keeping it when the money can go elsewhere to things I can use.  I would like to get $500 for it which I think is fair with the rebuilt engine,  weights and fenders on it if you add up what they cost by themselves.  I have about double that into it but it's not worth near that.  If you are interested and think that's to much make me an offer.  The worst I can do is say no to it.

Thanks for looking,

Chad

Under edit:  The seat has a crack that started in it after I painted it.

Unfortunately I am going to have to decline that offer.  I would rather keep it than to drive that far.  Sorry.
