I'm trying to figure out the year on my Gilson snowthrower, but can't find any info on reading the model/serial numbers

It's a 24" Gilson 2 stage snowthrower with 5hp Briggs & Stratton

Model No: 55132 45740

Serial: 9292C1 219

Any insight would be great!

I too have an old Montgomery Wards branded Gilson snowblower.  Love it!  That thing is a tank.  I could push snow with it if it had a blade on it!  I think it's around a late 60's model.  Still in service, doing what it does best.

Try this guy.  I found his site years ago.  He has a passion for those old snowblowers.

Ok, I'll have to find the engine serial.

I believe it's a Briggs 19D which would be 1963–1965

Engine has 130202 0862-01 79052407 stamped on the side. It also strangely has two what appear like stickers above that stamping. Never seen that before

I'm guessing there may be a different tag somewhere on the engine, but haven't been able to locate it.

So, if I am correct, the engine was built 5/24/79.

Found this info at www.gilsonsnowblowers.com

Makes sense that it's a single speed 2-stage friction drive unit (Introduced 1971 - 1980). Motor is from '79, so this is a late 24" model
