Snagged this up a week or so ago. Came with a 4 way blade and some wheel weights. This is the 4th 140 I've owned. Finally got the setup I want. Late model (later hydro) H3. Got it running the other day. Runs great. No smoking or knocking. Only concern, it won't move. Lift works and the 2 valves are popped up. When I move the lever forward, it starts whining and I can hear the engine load up. Driveshaft is tight. When I rock it, I see the drums move slightly over the shoes. Brakes are not locked. What am I missing? I've pulled the fender pan to take a closer look. I'm stumped. Is there a valve that I'm missing? PO said the engine quit running in his garage and he didn't move it after that. Probably sat for the better part of a year.

Sweet  Always wanted one, never found in my range yet....Can't help on the no move, I've never had a Deere below 80Hp on this farm (yet) so not familiar with the set-up in these. I learned a Bolen's can have a drive pin and/or out of adjustment gear set or both that can keep from moving but that is not a hydro. Cub that won't move is usually a roll pin in shaft or bad/dirty plugged valve(s) in top of unit. Can also be a completely plugged filter/wrong filter.

Lots of Deere expects on here to help, I watch the responses to try and learn.

Good Luck !

Fluid good and full to level on dipstick? Release valves are not sealing. Soak them down with Pb blaster and let it sit overnight. Work them the next day.

Does the later model still have the freewheel knob under the seat? I always forget to tighten it after I have to push her around.

Interesting treatment of the grill. I kinda like it!

I took the attempt at a 4020 look off. Looking for a grill and headlight panel. PO cut the original grill up. He said panel was busted so he made that. It does have the free wheel knob. I actually have that plate off to look at things so that not the problem. I have it on a jack now with the wheels up. They spin on the diff fine, but will not spin forward or backwards.

That 4 way blade is listed in the for sale/swap section. I already have one for my 420.

So and update here. Pulled the 2 check valves. They're good to go. Pulled a plug from the top that had a spring. I cranked the engine with each valve pulled and verified flow. Still won't move either direction. I guess I change the fluid and filter but think I'm going to be in the same spot just with clean fluid. Any suggestions here? When the 2 check valves are pushed down, you cannot roll the tractor at all. I'm at a loss here.

I'm no Sundstrand guru so I'll see what the others say here as I have a 140 and parts of a 317.

Ok... are you sure the clutch is fully engaging?  Is the driveshaft spinning on the pump input shaft?

Yes..I have lift. The engine shows load when lever is moved forward. Nothing tells me driveshaft. It acts like my Case' do when fluid is going through the relief valve. Don't really know where that's at on this. Wondering if it's stuck or something.
