The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Division

"determined the implosion went as planned, but without the desired effect."

What?  Now there's some bureaucratic doubletalk.  Obviously, without the

desired effect, the implosion did not go as planned.

I disagree with you. They planned on being incompetent and succeeded. Somebody cut corners on the explosive(probably should have used C4) and the blasts didn't  cut.

40 years ago I was an Army Corps of Engineer 2LT. One of the other LTs in my BOQ was chosen to go to Alabama for a month to blow a bridge. Later that summer we had a big promotion party for a bunch of the guys making 1LT and CPT. A LTG showed up and had a talk with the bridge demonlitionist. Evidently he did an outstanding job and the general had taken an interest. The general also told the LT that blowing the bridge would probably be the most fun he has in his Army career. The general still fondly remembered  the bridge that he blew.

When I got to do demolitions, it was always a blast. Good Luck, Rick
