At the end of last summer my mulcher died so put it aside , but now im in spring i am now to be needing it again so toed it into the shed and checked it fuel &  tank was clean same with the carbie , 

 

so proceeded to the spark removed the top keyway and key good so then checked the stator hmmm DEAD old points , went on a hunt found a I C type and replaced with it                        

 

the old 1 >>post-62113-0-69567800-1475837984.jpg , thats the best thing i have done for the engine it now performs way better 

 

its a 5 HP late 70's early 80's briggs & stratton will check the date of it

upto 2 in pretty much limits it depends on if soft wood too but still safe at 2 in

My 8 hp Simplicity will do 3" but only in short bursts.

this 1 is the best 1 i have used  & i have had a fair variety of mulchers but mostly electric types , and yes can only feed the branches in , in short feeds or it will stall it , give it time to chop up
