Hauled off a load of old scrap steel, mostly old cow freestall pipe where we replaced with newer "old" stalls. Price is $185/ton & got $171 for the load. They will sell stuff too for 20 cents/lb and I started not to go back there as they haul it out almost as fast as it comes in, so not much to pick through. I decided to give it a look, being I saw some "green" tractor back there. Now to back up a bit....I needed a grill for my JD214. Bought one on ebay last night for 99cents, plus $14 shipping, and that is a great price, but not the exact grill I needed, but would do. Now back to today....I walk back there & it's a JD 200 series, no engine, no hood, nor grill frame/hood mount, but lo & behold, there lay the grill, complete with emblem in center! Carried it back & had $1 in hand, as it weighed about 2 or 3 lb. She said they didn't like her writing tickets for under $5, so she said it was my lucky day & just take it free of charge. Just needs edge straightened & a spot weld. A good day for me.
Got a lot done, milked this morning, weaned & moved some calves, hauled my steer to slaughter house, hauled the load of steel, then while on a roll, I loaded an old station wagon I've been aiming to scrap. So tomorrow I should go up at least another $250 when I get the car to the scrap yard. Got silage fed just now, & time to milk again....gave my son the day off. Got a guy coming for a 2 day old calf too. Usual buyer only offers $75, but this guy offered $100 cash money. I love good days!
Sorry Maynard, I guess I got your share of good luck today, but don't worry, my bad day will come.....when I'm not ready at all.

My buddy that buys scrap just brought me a roll off to fill up with scrap yesterday.I get $140/ton but only have to pitch it in the rolloff and he comes and picks it up.Plus anything he gets in his yard I can pull parts, engines or whatever for free.Found 12 brand new chisel plow teeth last week at his yard.Pulled a good running AC D17 engine last Summer off a E Gleaner combine.
