I have my engine apart so I can't run it at the moment to check voltage under load
I know that there is a spec for resistance between the two AC terminals at the plug. Before I reassemble it just to possibly have to dismantle it again, does anyone know what checks can be made with it still apart? I am trying to avoid having to pull it apart twice.

Ohm meter on Ohms, you should read a very low resistance (0.5-1±?ohms) measuring across the two leads, You should have infinite resistance (maximum) to ground from either of the two leads.
