I don't know...my BIL, member "meangreen" doesn't hardly use his 330 or his 316 after getting his 430. He feels like he's getting on a toy after using the 430. BUT, even so, the 318 would make a fine standby machine for when the 400 acts up & you have not the time to fix it right then. We all need a standby machine or 2.

I like the sounds of that.We all need a standby or 2.Thats a nice way of trying to have more then we need.LOL Larry

BTW Gary glad you have the JD 400 up and running.I'am tossing the idea around to see if I should look for one to fix and restore.Time will tell.Larry

That looks real solid and seems to mow well. What size tires are on the rear of a 400?

They don't look that big. I guess that is because the tractor is quite a bit larger than a 300 series. A 6 bolt hub. That is kind of unusual on a GT.

Good deal on getting it back together and running. The deck looks like it does a terrific job mowing too :D

The Massey 55 series & the Bush Hog JBI also use the 6 bolt wheels. Hard to find those rims too!

It looks like the rims are a completely different beast than the standard 12". Unless they have been loaded with CaCl they will probably last forever.
