Here is a machine that I had bought a few years back, put in the shed and totally forgot about.

I have to thank Hugh (Hugh-SS/16) for bringing it down from CT for me.

It's a '72 Sears Compact 8E, but it's a variation of the standard.

The original '72 Compact 8E had a completely white grille and engine and was model number 917.25040.

I've been told that mine was "wrong" or had been "repainted" but, I've come to find that it's a variation of the model.

This '72 8E sports the same paint scheme as the '72 10XL, model number 917.25060.

This makes it a slight variation, and a model in its own right --being the model number 917.25041.

It's a nice little machine, and one that I doubt that I'll ever be rid of.  The thing has never even pulled a trailer.

Doesn't run --I believe the ignition coil to be out of it, but I'll eventually get all of the bugs worked out.  Maybe it will be a winter project...

Sorta looks like a MF 7 or 8. Shifter lever and shift pattern, deck, with the 90' gearboxes, and body style. Just a thought.

put in the shed and totally forgot about.

I've not done that with a tractor but recently found a gun that I forgot that I had purchased. Was actually considering the purchase of one when I found this one. A British designed air pistol.

Does that qualify as a barn find? Were the rims sunk in the dirt???
