A few people have suggested that I either repaint or paint the additional parts I have added to my 1962 Bolens Ride-a-matic. The tractor has been repainted at some point in the past, in what I think is the incorrect colour, so I thought I would do a bit of research into the original colour.
Apologies if this is information that has already been posted and any help with corrections or filling in the gaps or would be appreciated.
I managed to find the PPG codes for Bolens gold and I believe the white used for the wheels. New information to me is that PPG codes appear to be the paint code system used in the US, with PPG translating to Pittsburgh Plate Glass (originally Ditzler Colour Company subsidiary that was acquired in 1928).
The PPG code for Bolens Gold (labelled FMC Husky tractor gold) is 22390 and the white (labelled FMC Husky tractor white) is 8377. It would appear these codes are unique to FMC so probably not a direct exact match to other gold/white, as I have seen suggested elsewhere.
This is where I got stuck as I was unable to find a way to translate a PPG code to a RAL or BS code that I can use in the UK.
Has anyone been able to find an exact match for these colours and have any information that will help me locate the best match in the UK?
