That has been sold. (I called on it). Seems he still has it up on CL. It was well worth $400 with the tiller, mower deck and front blade. Farm King brand was from Farm and Fleet and many were sold in the midwest.

I bought an MTD 860 last year that was running with mower deck and snowblower. It needed a replacement PTO and safety guard. I spent over $100 and a bunch of time on it. It is now in very nice condition and works good. I don't use it because it seems to be designed for people 5' 8" and shorter(much like my JD210). The PTO lever is situated such that when I'm mowing, I often bump it with my right leg. This shuts off the PTO.

The 990 is a nice big GT but check it out a little more. The price isn't bad if the engine tests okay. Good Luck, Rick

Was the 990 the biggest they made? I always like it.. its just I thought it always small for all that you can get for it. Might try to me a Jim Dandy or similar

I think that the 860 and the 990 are the same size chassis just a bigger engine in the 990. I consider the 860 alittle bigger than my Simplicity, Bolens tube frames, and Wheelhorses. If you want a bigger machine, try to find a large frame Bolens. Good Luck, Rick

The 990 and 995 are the biggest MTD made. The frames are longer than the 860, 760 tractors but bigger people have a tight fit on any of these machines.

You are probably right. The 995 through 999 are a big MTD machine. The GT series with front and rear PTO and 55" mower deck and better 3-pt hitch setup are their most powerful.
